We've been moving locos again this week, and so lots of pictures to wade through even though I was in the wrong place and couldn't get any of our new ramp doing its thing. But let's not get ahead of things, let us return to a quarry in a county, far, far away....
No, not a hitherto unknown Col Stephens type railway but a selection of visitors that have passed through our doors this week.
And now for something completely -er- unusual.
I foresaw two possible scenarios this week. One was that I would be on my way down to the studios and wouldn't get the time to write the blog at all, the other that, for various reasons, there wouldn't be much to write about. I think my crystal ball wants new batteries.
With the drama of getting the orders placed now behind me, this week has been something of an anti-climax. For one thing, the accountants have been nagging to get my paperwork ready for their audit, so that has taken precedence. But on Monday Andrew had seen on e-bay a chap advertising an office type 6ft cabinet at a good price, and although it was located south of Grantham, it was worth going after if it stayed low. At least I thought so, and bid for it and then set off to collect some bits from Sheffield. When I returned, I was the proud owner of another cabinet. After an exchange of e-mails graduating to texts, I arranged to go down on Tuesday to collect.
These weeks are anything but normal, though come to think of it, I don't know what is “normal” at the Briddon Country Pile. On Monday Steph and I headed back to darkest Norfolk to return our grandson from his long weekend with us, and although there was muttered talk of “doing some work at the shed after you get back” there wasn't really much chance of it.

I haven't mentioned much about the sale of Briddon Towers of late. Suffice it to say that after going on the market on July 1st, we had our first offer within 3 days (before the “For Sale” sign actually went up), and by agreement with the Estate Agents, opted for written bids to be in a week or so later. In fact 8 such bids were received, all of them in excess of the original asking price, and after a bit of a hiccough the sale is going through. I am using a Licenced Conveyancer located in South Wales: I only say all of this to observe that a Freepost envelope, posted on Wednesday 24th July, finally arrived with the Conveyancers on Monday 5th August.

Of course, when I said that next Friday's plans were set in stone, what I should have said was that they were set in er - Blu-tak - and might be slightly ply-able.

This has been one of those weeks where it has gone way beyond the "Weekend" of the title. On Monday I went off to collect "Pluto's" fuel pump from our tame fuel pump expert. Later in the day I got a call from the shotblasters to say that "Libby's" casing parts were ready, so I hired a pick-up for Thursday. On Tuesday I popped in to the fabricators to collect the 'power bulge' that will go over the exhauster on D2128. Finally on Friday I touched base with a company who have the tackle to press the louvres in the doors for the said 03 - they don't seem to think it much of a problem and will get back to me shortly. Given that in between I have received back Steph's Micra after 8 days in the bodyshop for a job that was only supposed to take two and you may well wonder whether I have managed much (profitable) work this week and you're not the only one.
